— Story —

The Nest was created and opened by Ojai native Kiona Wachter in the fall of 2017.

Coining the name from the original, opened in the 1980's by her father Eric Wachter and godmother Lynn Katzoff, Kiona brought The Nest back to life revamping the menu yet holding true to a few classics. Focal pointing local produce, organic and sustainable ingredients, The Nest pushes the boundaries of classic comfort food with innovative menu items and weekly specials. Many menu items are dedicated to the family's local businesses such as the Wachter Hay and Grain, for her grandparents who were the owners of the iconic Feedstore for over 40 years, and the Tireman for her Uncle Fred who owns Fred's Tireman in Oakview.

Born into the restaurant industry, Kiona gained inspiration at an early age while working in her father's restaurant Eric Ericsson's. Her love of food transpired to her later creating the iconic Beach House Tacos and Beach House Fish on the Ventura Pier.

Returning to her roots, Kiona is excited to share her artistic expression with the town she calls home. Embracing foodies of all palettes, the Nest has something to offer anyone and everyone.
